Your code stays on your computer. No tracking, no ads.

In short
- Your code, file names and commit history stay on your computer and go only to the Git servers you push to.
- Swiftgrove doesn't collect usage data and shows no ads.
- The app only goes online for the things listed below.
The Swiftgrove app
Settings stay on your computer; a GitHub sign-in and a license key are kept in Windows Credential Manager. The app goes online only:
- For Git: when you fetch, pull, push or clone, Git talks to the servers your projects use.
- To sign in with GitHub: Swiftgrove reads your GitHub user name, name and email, to suggest them for your commits. The sign-in is only ever sent to GitHub.
- To check whether a repository is public (without a license): only the repository's owner and name go to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket, never its contents.
- For your license: the license key, an anonymous id for this PC and the computer's name go to Swiftgrove's license service, so you can see and free your devices. Once every few days, in the background, the app checks with the service that your license still holds and renews it. Offline, it keeps working for several weeks.
- To check for updates (the version from swiftgrove.app; the Microsoft Store version is updated by the Store): once a day the app asks swiftgrove.app for the number of the latest version. Nothing about you or your projects is sent.
Buying a license
Licenses are sold through an online reseller that handles the payment, sales tax and invoice. Swiftgrove receives your email address and the order details, to deliver and support your license; never your payment details.
This website
No cookies and no tracking. To see how many people visit and which pages they read, the site counts visits anonymously: no cookies, no stored IP addresses, nothing that identifies you. Like any website, the hosting provider processes your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site.
Your data and your rights
License and order details are kept as long as the license exists and bookkeeping law requires; emails as long as needed to help you. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at [email protected], and you can complain to the data protection authority in your country.
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too.
